Character and Trust By: Fred Harteis President
of Harteis International, Inc.
At Harteis International we honor trust more
than ability. Some people are loyal, others are financially loyal, while some people are not and never will be loyal. That
is a fact of life.
We have been in business for over 30 years and as time
passes we find people who break trust don’t last. We believe that honor, character and integrity are of far greater
value than profit or growth. Enron executives found out the hard way.
The test we must pass daily is when we look in the
mirror and can face that person with pride and peace we are on the right track,
Your word is your worth and your worth is your word.
Today we have so many frivolous lawsuits clogging the court system because of people who refuse to accept responsibility.
At Harteis International we focus on giving more than
we expect to get in return and treat people better than we would like to be treated. It takes years to develop trust but we
can lose trust in a split second. Whether it is winning in sports and breaking the rules, or winning in business by cheating.
All is lost if we break the rules.
Some people feel being clever is the answer, through
manipulating people or figures. The short-term gain will not satisfy the long-term pain.
The word “values” is used frequently in
politics and in our culture. It is more than a word it is a way of life; it’s a habit to live and show through our example
not just our speech.
